Outdoor Classroom / Sensory Garden
At Little Cherubs Day Care nursery our sensory garden is used as an outdoor classroom, where children are encouraged to learn hands on. The garden is not only beautiful to look at but tantalizes the children’s senses too. The Plants used in the garden catch the children’s imagination and get them interested in the garden and caring for them.

There is lots to experiment, with a green house, vegetable patch, large walk in sand pit, varies dens and shelters, objects for balancing and touching, seating, conservation area, walk ways and a separate South African hut for the babies to enjoy and for outdoor story sessions.

Our Outdoor learning area links in with the Foundation Phase, which is soon due to be implemented in 2008. The Foundation Phase concentrates on hands on learning and making full use of the outdoor environment.
