January-March 2009

We collated all our achievements for 2008. We raised over £1,000 for charity, including money for Barnardo's. We were also featured in Nursery World Magazine for our great effort. We completed a fab song book and cook book and sold them to raise money for new toys.
We had a visit from Zoo labs and Father Christmas and his magic show. We gained our bronze food award and our healthy snack award too. We worked hard with all our achievements and are looking forward to 2009 already.

This month we sent questionnaires out to all parents to view the quality of our service. Once we receive all these back we will write a report on our findings and inform parents. By carrying out questionniares and regular quality monitoring exercises we can gain an insight on what parents feel about the nursery and any improvements to be made. thefore we can work in partnership with parents.
We had our inspection from CSSIW this month and passed all the standards and good practice advice with flying colours. Our inspection report should hopefully be available on the CSSIW web site and can also be picked up during an apointment to view the nursery.
We also adopted 7 land snails this month and are currently looking after them by feeding them fruit and vegetables. They will hopefully grow to be the size of a child's hand and we will be charting their progress in a special book. We have named the snails Sammy, Tommy, Sadie, Nina and Miss Shell, which the children have all chosen in their groups. We are currently having a competition to name the other two!
March
We should finally see our CCTV up and running this month in and around the nursery premises. We feel it will be a welcome addition to the security that we already have in place. More details on our CCTV system can be found in our enrolment packs received on a visit to nursery.
We will be putting together a user friendly file for parents on the Foundation Phase with lots of advice on what to do at home and what we do here at nursery. Hopefully this can ensure we are all working together for the best interests of the children.
We are holding a special pottery session this month for the children. We will be supplying special paints and spring pottery items to paint. We are really looking forward to making these Easter gifts!
