In April we had a very healthy month. We participated in 'Healthy body, Happy me' week sponsored by the NDNA. We had lots of fun with our music session, yoga session, planting seeds, bringing in our toothbrushes and most of all our teddy bears breakfast. The children tried lots of different foods on offer for the week including exotic fruits and yummy croissants!
We produced a nursery cook book containing lots of recipes we cook for the children along with activities and cake making ideas for home. It also includes a section on 'fussy' eaters in case any child is going through a stage! Staff and parents also contributed recipes to the book. The book is over 30 pages long and is on offer for £4.00. All the proceeds will be going towards cooking equipement and a bread maker for the children to use.
MAY
A man from Bristol zoo came this month to show the children a selection of insects for them see and touch. The children loved this and were really interested in what the man had to say. We saw a scorpion, giant snail and even a scary snake!
Environmental health visited us to give an unannounced inspection on the kitchen. We had a wonderful report and received a bronze certificate.
Lot's of courses were attended over the last 3 months. These included the Foundation Phase training so we are ready to begin this in September, health and safety, child protection and first aid.
JUNE
We received some new bikes this month for our garden. This money was raised by selling nursery uniform.
We held our Big Toddle for Barnardo's. All children took part by walking laps around the garden in fancy dress costume. The babies went for a walk around the village in the double pushchairs. Each child received a certificate for taking part, sticker and medal. We had a lovely teddy bears lunch afterwards to celebrate. We raised over £600.00, so thank you to everyone who took part and sponsored money to such a good cause!
