March 2008
17/06/2008Welcome to the new look newsletter. As from 2008 we will be doing a newsletter every 3 months to update you on all the important nursery aspects.
We are really proud of the nursery and managed to make some great achievements in 2007. These included: Updating our garden with an outdoor multi purpose summer house, new equipment such as more double buggies to go for walks, new bikes, equipment for the Foundation Phase and raising lots of money for charity such as Barnardo's and Children in Need.
January
By starting a new year staff have been very busy planning new topics and activities with the children. New monthly topics have been introduced such as birds, weddings and songs and rhymes alongside traditional topics such as seasons, colours and festivals.
Special offers for 2008 included our cheaper extra sessions and loyalty scheme, please see main section for details.
February
Our inspection took place in January with our report produced this month. Everything went really well and the inspector was happy with the nursery and the great standard of care received. We passed all the standards as we have done in previous years with no problem areas at all. Big thank you goes out to all the parents who filled in a CSSIW questionnaire and returned it back to the inspector with such wonderful comments. A copy of last years report can be found on the CSSIW website link on the links page. Our most recent one is available when you come to view the nursery or can be sent on request.
We managed to get ourselves on TV and be on the BBC one o'clock news. The children loved seeing themselves on tv and were really pleased.
March
Lots of courses were attended in March. 8 attended the Foundation Phase awareness training to implement the new curriculum in September. 4 attended child protection, 2 attended special needs awareness, 2 attended paediatric first aid and 1 attended food hygiene. Staff continuously attend courses even going on weekends to update their qualifications. Courses attended are above the requirments of the care standards but staff learn so much and are then able to bring it all back to improve and implement in the work place. Well done all!
