FEBRUARY 2007
30/01/2007We have been very busy doing questionnaires for parents on the service we provide at nursery. We have had some great feedback on the good work we do. Most parents seem interested in the new services we have to offer. These include a hairdresser and ironing service- don't worry we won't be doing it! A professional wil be arranging these for us at a good rate.
We are currently fund raising for all weather outdoor suits for the nursery. We are starting off by selling Little Cherubs jumpers and polo shirts for the children. Our sensory garden will soon be complete with the addition of our very large summer house to store our suits and wellies in. It will also be a great place to read stories and provide singing activities in.
We have a few changes to groups this month. The younger groups will now be 0-14month and 14months-24months. This will ensure more continuity of care for children who are starting from 6 months old, but will also take into effect the development of each individual child.
Staff are continuing to support parents by providing out of hours babysitting. This is a private arrangement between staff and parents with numbers provided on our internal newsletter.
We are busy working hard and have attended training in Birmingham and Cardiff this month. We are working towards acreditation for a Quality Counts award run by the NDNA (National Day Nurseries Association). This will help the nursery gain recognition for working way above the National Minimum Standards set by CSIW. Work will involve assessment, inspection and 2 files of evidence and paperwork. The whole process will take up to 2 years with re assessment every 3 years to ensure standards remain high. Hopefully if we get this award we will be the first nursery in South Wales to do so.
